Sierra-at-Tahoe

Sierra-at-Tahoe covers over 2,000 acres with over 2,000 vertical feet. The runs snake through a forest of old growth fir and lodgepole pines. From the top is a 360 degree view including Lake Tahoe, Mt. Ralston, Pyramid Peak, and more. On a clear day it’s possible to see Mt. Diablo in the Contra Costa County region of the San Francisco Bay area.

Sierra is a great family resort with something for everyone. For first-timers, the width and varied pitch of Broadway make for one of the best ‘bunny hills’ around. Once the basics have been grasped, there is a 2.5 mile beginner run from the top of the mountain back to the main lodge, and the Burton Progression parks are a great place to start out jibbing and jumping. For kids, there are also themed Adventure Zones scattered through the resort. For those ready for a bit more, there is the intermediate-to-advanced West Bowl area and a nationally recognized terrain park network and Superpipe. Bumps and off-piste areas abound off Grandview chair and also in West Bowl. The backcountry gates open up access to Huckleberry Canyon for advanced skiers and riders.

Anyone looking to learn a bit more can sign up at the comprehensive ski & snowboard school with lessons in snowboarding and both alpine and telemark skiing. The Wild Mountain children’s ski & snowboard school offers daycare for children from 18 months – 5 years in addition to lessons starting with the 3-Ski program for 3 year olds. Children up to 12 years old are accommodated in age-appropriate groups for ski or snowboard lessons. Snowboarders can start lessons as early as 5 years old. The adult programs offer all levels of lessons. Package deals are available for lesson/ lift ticket/ rental for all levels as well as a 3-day package for first-timers with their exclusive “Sierra Ride Guarantee”, which promises that by your 3rd day you’ll be able to ski or snowboard down the 2.5 mile Sugar-and-Spice run or your 4th lesson is free! Telemark lessons are also available.
